I recently had a great one of a kind experience in Atlanta, Georgia...I have to share this one with all of you. After an Atlanta Braves game...which is fun in itself, I visited
Fat Matt's Rib Shack.
No, I did not see Fat Matt, but I certainly gained a few pounds while there.
If you are expecting linen tablecloths and napkins, candlelight and all that...don't go, but if you want down home good food at good prices then, by all mean...GO!
At Fatt Matt's it is all about the BBQ! When you line up at the door, and you can face a pretty hefty line of others waiting for the flavor, be prepared to order when you get to the window. The menu is right in front of you on the chalk board.
Everyone in the family will enjoy something on the menu. The ribs are the most popular, and many line up for the mouth watering chopped pork sandwich. Of course, what is BBQ without chicken?
The tantalizing flavor does not stop there...the "sides" are a big part of the attraction. Probably one of the most interesting are the rum baked beans. The other offerings are potato salad, coleslaw, Brunswick stew, roasted peanuts, macaroni and cheese and collard greens, it doesn't get much more southern home cookin' than that!
Not that it were even possible that I had room for dessert, but there was sweet potato pie or pecan available. It is also a place to get a taste of the blues. Live entertainment could be on your menu.
The building is not the Taj Mahal, but the food measures up to any barbecue and beyond. Fatt Matt's service is wonderful. Could not ask for more pleasant and helpful people.

Get there early, the restaurant is small in size, but mighty in taste. There is some additional outdoor seating. It is one of those places...you don't mind waiting for your turn. It is worth it! It is not just a meal...it is an experience!
