On JUNE 30th, Manhattan-based Japanese taiko drumming ensemble OMNY Taiko will present a thunderous concert right here in the Catskills! They will perform at the Orpheum Theatre in Tannersville at 3PM along with Grammy Award-winning Taiko Master Koji Nakamura.
OMNY, which stands for "One Miracle in New York," was established in late 2006. Initially, the vision of having a Taiko group in New York seemed unrealistic for many reasons: struggling with the cost of drums, finding an affordable practice space and lacking a permanent Taiko teacher to lead the group. But thanks to the unwavering passion and generosity of the group’s supporters, they continue to perform at various events year after year such as the Catskill Mountain Culture Festival in Hunter, the Prayer Vigil in Washington, D.C. and the Energy Festival in Pennsylvania.
