A free ice skating event is planned for Saturday, March 16 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30p.m. at the Kiwanis Ice Arena, Saugerties, sponsored by the Friends of the Saugerties Public Library.
Featured will be demonstrations of hockey, speed racing, figure skating, spectators joining for a half hour lesson, and a character dress - up on ice for school age children.
Flyers have been sent home through the schools inviting students to come dressed as an animal, hero or character from a movie. Trophies will be awarded for the best costumes.
Free admission.
Skate rentals, if needed,are available at $3. Helmets are recommended for first time and novice skaters.
The refreshment stand will be open.
