The monthly Poetry Night series at Cafe Mezzaluna Bistro Latino and Gallery will feature poet Kate Hymes on Friday, August 10. An open mic for writers of poetry and short prose begins at 7 p.m., followed by the featured reader presenting her moving, inspiring, and beautifully crafted poetry. Her poems honor her family, her ancestry, and historical roots.
Kate Hymes is a poet and educator living in New Paltz. She hosts writing workshops, weekly and full day, known as Wallkill Valley Writers. This year Walkill Valley Writers published an anthology of 15 Hudson Valley writers. In celebration of Women's History month and in conjunction with Huguenot Street Historical Society, she led Women's Writes weekend workshops. She has had work published nationally and regionally. Kate Hymes is Director of the Hudson Valley Catskill Partnership: Regional Adult Education Network. Kate reads at venues in the Hudson Valley and appreciates the opportunity to read her work at Cafe Mezzaluna.
