ALBANY, NY, April 19 – New York Solar Energy Industries Association (NYSEIA) today praised Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s NY-Sun Initiative to double the amount of customer-sited solar power installed annually in New York and quadruple that amount by 2013.
“NYSEIA applauds the Governor’s efforts to advance the deployment of solar energy in New York State,” said NYSEIA President Ron Kamen, chairman of EarthKind Solar Energy. “In the short-term a robust solar marketplace creates local jobs and serves as an economic engine while solar energy’s long-term benefits include improved air quality for New Yorkers. We look forward to continuing to work with the Governor to expand programs like this and develop a long-term plan to advance the use of solar energy in the state.”
Outlined by the Governor in his 2012 State of the State Address, the NY-Sun Initiative brings together and expands existing programs administered by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), Long Island Power Authority (LIPA), and the New York Power Authority (NYPA), to ensure a coordinated and well-funded solar energy expansion plan.
