The Parishioners of Trinity Episcopal Church are pleased to announce that Father Michal Phillips began his term at Vicar of Trinity Episcopal Church, Saugerties on Sunday, July 1.  Previously he served as rector of the Church of the Holy Trinity in Manhattan from 2005 to June, 2012, and rector of Christ Church, Poughkeepsie, from 1995 to 2005. He earned a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Dallas with a major in Philosophy, and a Master of Divinity degree from The Church Divinity School of the Pacific, a member institution of the Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley, California.
In addition to his parish work, Michael has served on the Diocesan Hispanic Commission, the Advisory Board of Episcopal Charities, the Campus Ministry Committee, and recently ended his seven year term as Chair of the Budget and Finance Committee. Currently he serves on the Congregational Development Committee and is a Board Member of Rural and Migrant Ministry, an inter-faith advocacy agency that addresses labor concerns for agricultural workers in New York State.
Father Michael and his wife, Sarah, are settling into Saugerties, enjoying its scenic beauty, history, artistic and recreational offerings, and numerous shops and restaurants. They have two children: a son, Michael, who is currently studying to serve as a Physician's Assistant, and a daughter, Gracie, who will be a senior this fall at Trinity College in Hartford. Their family is rounded out by a golden retriever who even at eight years of age likes to play, play, play.
