Sheriff Paul J. VanBlarcum announces that traffic accident reports issued by the Ulster County Sheriff's Office are now available through the internet. The public can access most accident reports by visiting www.policereports.us and clicking on the appropriate link. The database can also be accessed by clicking on the Accident Reports navigation button on the Ulster County Sheriff's homepage, www.co.ulster.ny.us/sheriff/. Reports are normally available within 2 business days of the accident. The new online service has come about through collaboration between the Sheriff's Office and Police Reports.US. From the report search page, individuals are able to search for a report by last name, date of the accident, location of the accident, or report number, as well as view and print it. The service costs $6.00 per report, payable online with a credit card through a secure site. Individuals can also call PoliceReports.US at 800-489-0190 to look into setting up a prepaid account. Said Sheriff VanBlarcum, "I'm pleased to offer this online service to make it faster, easier and more convenient for our citizens to get the reports they need, anytime from their own computers. This online access allows them to settle their insurance claims more quickly."
