A memorial tribute commemorating the death of Harold Wilsey in January, will be dedicated on Wednesday, August 8 in the main reading room of the Saugerties Public Library at 4 p.m. followed by a reception in the community room. Friends and neighbors are invited to join with the family.
At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, the SPL had received ninety donations.
After touring the library and consulting with the director Sukrit Goswami, the family decided a new clock above the circulation desk would be an appropriate use of the funds.
A 25 inch wooden clock with three brass weather instruments for barometer, temperature and tides is encased in a lighthouse frame designed, hand crafted and installed by Peter Wilsey, indicative of Hal's sense of punctuality, owning a boat and his commitment to family, church and community.
Hal was a funeral director for 63 years. He married Margaret “Peg” Holdman, moved to Saugerties in 1953 where they raised their seven children, entrusting his legacy of compassion and service to the second and third Wilsey generations.
