SAUGERTIES.....Barbara A. Griffis, 73, of Willow Lane, died Sunday, May 20, 2012 at the Golden Hill Health Care Center. Born August 28, 1938 in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Russell and Isabel DeWitt. A Saugerties area resident for over 41 years, Barbara was employed as the Village of Saugerties Treasurer for over 22 years. Active in the Community she was the Treasurer for the Saugerties Little League for 32 years, also served as the Treasurer for the Saugerties Public Library for a number of years and served on the Cahill PTA. She was a member of the Saugerties Bowlers Association, played softball and volleyball in the Saugerties Athletic Association, coached softball for several years in the Saugerties Little League, co-chaired the 2001-2002 NYS Special Olympics and was a member of the Rip Van Winkle Hiking Club.  She was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Snow Roman Catholic Church and a member of its Altar Rosary Society.

Survivors include her Husband, James, with whom she would have celebrated 54 years of marriage next month. 1 Son: James (Cathrin Crampton) Griffis of Broomfield, CO.  4 Daughters: Patty Griffis of Port Ewen, Pam (David) Kaufman of Saugerties, Marlyn Griffis and Barbara Griffis, both of Albany.  3 Sisters: Marlyn DeWitt, Diane Davis and Margaret DeWitt.  2 Brothers: Edward DeWitt and Daniel DeWitt.  Predeceased by a Brother: Pieter DeWitt.  5 Grandchildren: Jonathan, Stephanie and Stacie Kaufman, Michael Griffis and Anna Jane Griffis.  Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Her Funeral Procession will form 9:15 AM Thursday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. Of John & Lafayette Sts. Thence to St. Mary of the Snow, Saugerties, where at 10:00 AM a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Friends will be received Wednesday 2- 4 and 7-9 PM. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Family requests donations be made in memory of Barbara to one of the following organizations: (1) Saugerties Little League, PO Box 382 Saugerties, NY 12477;  (2) Golden Hill Health Care Center Activity Fund: “Unit 3C”, Golden Hill Lane, Kingston, NY  12401; or (3) Alzheimer’s Association of the Hudson Valley, 2 Jefferson Plaza Suite 103, Poughkeepsie, NY  12601.  Additional expressions of condolence may be shared on Barbara’s Memorial Page @www.seamonwilseyfuneralhome.com.
