Saugerties – Erika A. Straub died Wednesday June 13, 2012 at Albany Medical Center. She was 82 years old.
 
Born August 27, 1929 in Frankfurt, Germany to Anton and Frieda Helmann Ebert.  She married her husband Albert on December 4, 1948.
 
After 25 years of service, Erika retired from Ferroxcube in Saugerties where she had been a member of the bowling team.  She did all types of arts and crafts, particularly knitting and crocheting.  She had special knack for looking at something and be able to recreate it without instruction.  Traveling was something she enjoyed a great deal, however she most enjoyed spending time with her family.
 
In addition to her husband, survivors include three children, her daughter Cindy Straub and her husband Joseph Joy of Saugerties, Albert Straub and his wife Mary Brown of Scranton, PA, and her daughter Helen Bryndza of Norristown, PA; eight grandchildren, Jordan, Jesse, and James Joy, John and Steve Bryndza, Chad and Darin Smith, and Brandon Brown; and two great-grandsons, Caine Smith and Jackson Bryndza.  She was pre-deceased by her daughter, Sandra Smith, two grandsons, Barrett and Brandon Dederick, and her granddaughter Janea Brown Straub.
 
Funeral services will be held 12:30 pm, Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Buono Funeral Service, Inc.,  Saugerties, NY. Interment will follow in Katsbaan Cemetery.  Friends may call Friday 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Buono Funeral Service, Inc.  Please offer condolences at www.BuonoFuneralService.com.
