Recently, I've written about the absurdity of the new drugparaphernalia law and that it may be unconstitutional. Well... KUDOS to the Saugerties Village Board as they [indefinitely] tabled any plans to purse Town's lead. Saugerties Town Board unanimously passed the law that forbids the possession of "... drug paraphernalia includes all equipment, products, devices and materials of any kind that are designed for or primarily used to consume illegal drugs." Any counsel who helped write this vague law should carefully review established law. You would think that Town trustees would have taken the hint when Saugerties own Ulster County Attorney Holley Carnright expressed his doubt. Thanks to Village Trustees for putting the
Constitution before political theater. Maybe Town Trustees will get a spine and call for the law's abolishment.
